Get to know ms. Boynton
Hi third graders! I am so excited to be your teacher this year and I cannot wait to get to know each and every one of you. I know that we will have a wonderful school year together!
Let me tell you a little bit about myself...
I grew up in North Carolina and moved to Virginia when I was 15 years old. I lived in Grayson County, which is about two hours away from Salem. In high school I played lots of sports including soccer, cheerleading, and volleyball. My high school's name was Oak Hill Academy, and it is known for its excellent basketball program. We won the National Championship my junior year!
After high school I chose to go to Virginia Tech. It's a great school and I am proud to be a third generation Hokie! I still love to watch Virginia Tech football games! I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2003 and my Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction in 2005.
I taught in Floyd County, Virginia for eight years. I taught a variety of grades and also taught teachers as an instructional technology resource teacher for two years. I have also taught in Johns Creek, Georgia (just north of Atlanta) for one year. This is my fifth year in third grade and I'm very excited. (My third grade teacher was my favorite teacher ever!)
I am a proud mother of three beautiful daughters. Aubrey is nine and is in third grade at East Salem. Ava is six and is 1st grade at East Salem. Annika is four and attends Roanoke Valley Montessori. They are all so sweet and silly. They keep me busy at home!
In my spare time I love spending time with my family and friends. I like to go on trips, shop, listen to music, read books, and watch movies. I also enjoy cooking and eating good food!
This year I will expect your best, and I promise to give you my best every day too. Let's have a great year!
